We reupholster sofas and armchairs, replace filling and mechanisms, repair carcasses, hinges and drawer runners, restore fronts and refit worn hardware.
When it makes sense
If the frame is hardwood and plywood and still sound, reupholstery costs considerably less than a new piece and usually gives a better result than a cheap replacement — the new fabric can be better than the original, and the frame is already proven. If the frame is chipboard and already loose at the joints, we say honestly that the repair will not pay for itself, because a re-covered wreck is still a wreck.
Where it is used most
Rental properties. Upholstery wears out in two or three seasons of guests while the frame is fine, so re-covering in a durable fabric with removable covers extends the life of the set by several years at a fraction of the cost of replacement. For an owner with several units this is a planned maintenance item rather than an emergency.
What we can do besides the fabric
Replace foam and springs that have collapsed, which is usually what people actually feel when they say a sofa is worn out. Fit a new mechanism on a sofa bed. Repair a broken frame joint. Replace runners and hinges on cabinet furniture, and re-glue or refinish fronts. These can be done separately, without a full reupholstery, and we quote them as separate items.
How it runs
We look at photographs and dimensions first and give a figure before collection. The piece is collected, worked on at the workshop and returned assembled. For a hotel or a property with several units we stage the work so not everything is away at once.
Timing, price and warranty
Five to ten days including collection and return. Warranty: one year on reupholstery and mechanisms.
