A pergola is a light, open structure over a terrace, a poolside area, in a garden or outside a café. It gives shade and defines the space but stays open at the sides — which is what sets it apart from a veranda and from a canopy with a solid roof. We build pergolas in aluminium profile, free-standing or attached to the house.
Roof options
- Open grid or fixed louvres — shade without rain protection, the lightest option.
- Fixed roof — polycarbonate, glass or panels; protects from both sun and rain.
- Rotating louvres — blades that adjust the light and keep the rain off when closed. We offer them only where the chosen system provides this, and show you the specification before you order.
Only confirmed equipment
Side screens, sliding glazing, lighting, motorised louvres, rain and wind sensors — all of this depends on the particular system and manufacturer. What is available for your pergola is listed in the estimate line by line, together with the manufacturer’s warranty terms. We do not promise features the chosen system does not have.
Wind and use
Every system has wind and load limits set by its manufacturer. A pergola with rotating louvres is operated strictly to the instructions in strong wind, and the mechanism needs periodic servicing: cleaning the gutters, checking the drive and seals. At handover we give you the operating instructions and explain what to do in a storm.
Installation and base
A free-standing pergola goes on footings or on an existing slab if it can take the fixings; a wall-mounted one is also fixed to the wall. In many systems the drainage runs inside the posts, so we decide in advance where the water will discharge so it does not run across the terrace tiles. If the terrace is already finished, the fixings are planned so as not to damage it.
Price and quote
The cost depends on size, roof type, equipment and base. For a quote, send photos of the terrace and rough dimensions, and say whether you need rain protection. If you need cover for a car or a solid roof, compare with aluminium canopies; all solutions are under metal structures.
