Sand and salt from an open coast
The wind comes straight off the water here and carries both. Sand collects in entrance zones, on balconies, in shower trays and drains, and it scratches floors if it is swept around rather than removed. Salt settles on the glass and the railings. The checklist covers those places specifically, and window washing is scheduled before and during the season rather than left until the view is grey.
A short season
Most bookings fall in July and August, so the turnovers are concentrated into a few weeks. Linen and consumables are staged before the peak and each property has its own checklist, so the busiest weeks run to plan.
Closed for most of the year
A flat that stood empty through the winter in salt air opens with a film of salt on every surface, damp in the soft furnishings and a stale smell. The opening clean starts with airing, then covers every surface, the cupboards, the appliances and the windows. In autumn we clean, air and close the flat and leave the cupboards open.
