We clean guest houses and apartments in Mestia: turnovers between guests, cleaning of shared areas and drying rooms, deep cleaning before and after each season, and upholstery cleaning. Because of the distance, work is planned in blocks and the team stays on site rather than travelling for each visit.
Trekkers bring the mountain in
In summer guests come back from the trails with mud on their boots, wet clothes and packs. Hallways, stairs, bathrooms and drying rooms take most of it, so in season they are cleaned daily rather than only at changeover. Drying rooms need airing and attention of their own; otherwise they start to smell within weeks.
Winter brings soot and meltwater
In the ski season, heating and wood stoves leave soot on walls and around doors, and meltwater and grit come in on boots. Entrance zones and floors are cleaned more often, and the walls near stoves are wiped down on a schedule rather than left for spring.
Linen at a distance
Linen is washed and dried with proper equipment rather than hung up in a damp room, and properties keep a larger stock than on the coast, so a run of arrivals never runs short.
Opening and closing
A deep clean before each season and a closing clean with airing between them, including the mattresses and soft furnishings that sat in cold air. Where damp has left mould, treatment goes together with finding its source.
